New in store today with 40% discount for a limited time
How are you all today? I have no idea what I’m doing right now as I’m writing this post ahead of time due to PC going in for his service. All I can tell you is there were fits of nerves, many tears and cries of ‘please don’t leave me‘ and that was just me. Poor PC was visibly shaking….. or was that my IT man trying to exit the house as quickly as possibly to escape from this mad woman? 😉
While PC is away you have one more chance to enter our ‘Name my PC‘ competition and be in with a chance to win a super prize so don’t forget to add your choice of name in the comments section of the BLOG. All being well, we will announce the winner on Saturday (if PC is back by then).
Meanwhile, let’s take a look at what I have in store for you today……

I love looking through the archives at the STUDIO. You never know when you might happen upon something that is just perfect for what you need or perhaps find a tip or tutorial that really helps your workflow. Today I found this old post tucked away and thought it deserved another viewing. I’m always on the lookout for great CU products but as a scrapper it’s not always something you might think would add value and use to your stash. Here are some great reasons why you should always look at the CU product range as well as the PU range, even if you only ever use them for creating your own layouts.
Here’s a good example…..
I make these background papers to coordinate with the kit or collection so they are perfect for the scrapper to add to her stash as they make brilliant backgrounds when you want some continuity, such as a series of layouts for a photobook for instance but, they are labelled as CU (Commercial Friendly) so they often get overlooked by the scrapper who may think they don’t apply to her.
In my case and in most designers case CU simply means we created this product entirely ourselves and therefore own the copyright to the product so we can offer the item to both scrappers and Designers alike.
If a Designer uses them she may use them ‘as is’ to add to a kit or collection she is creating. She may also choose to desaturate or alter the color or even add elements, patterns and so on to make them more unique and to fit with her design.
As a scrapper you have exactly the same option to create a more unique paper/element as well as the obvious bonus of having a nice selection of papers to creating a good coordinated flow for your layout series/photobooks.
Read Karens great tips on how much more you can do with CU products.
How Personal Use Scrappers can Utilize Commercial Use Tools
You read it in many designers commercial-use (CU) product descriptions: “Perfect for the personal-use scrapper too!”
Sure, there are some CU products that might not be of interest to a personal scrapper; but there are also a lot of CU products that can be absolutely perfect for them! Read the rest of this very interesting topic over on the STUDIO Blog
