Simple Pleasures – Wrapping Gifts

Hey folks,

Hope you’re all well and happy today. Any snow for anyone yet? I thought I saw a flake yesterday but when no more followed I figured it was just wishful thinking lol. I know some of you live in places where it hardly ever snows, if at all. How do you celebrate your festive season without the white stuff when all around us are images of roaring log fires, wooly jumpers and thick socks and warming hot chocolate? I always think it must feel a little strange though I suppose you get used to it in time?

Today I thought I’d share some awesome home made gift wrap ideas I found on my web travels. I am going to be trying a few of these out myself. Normally, gift wrapping is one of the simple pleasures I get at this time of year and I admit, I like all my gift wrap to coordinate with my decoration color theme ( I know, so sad haha) but since times are a bit tough we must make do with what we have right? How about some of these nifty ideas? Let me know how you like to gift wrap your Christmas goodies.

I adore this idea and have given Jay strict instructions that he is to snap everyone this year ready for adding pics to parcels next year.

Imagine the look of loved ones faces when they see their own photos on their gifts. I think its really neat.

How about these ideas for saving a few bob and yet making a statement?

Add a homemade tag to really make it feel special

I hope these few ideas have given you some food for thought, created a little spark of inspiration? I’d love to know if you decide to use any of them for your own gift wrapping this year. Let me know.

Hi Boo! You take such gorgeous photos! I am green with envy and wish I could do that. I wish you or another designer would offer a tutorial or instruction-type class about how to edit our photos to make them look more artsy (not grungy artsy, there are lots of those out there lol). I mean magical artsy, like you did in the photo of the packages with the giant letter tags.

I have a lot of family members who live much further away, so we juggled all of our schedules and settled on celebrating Christmas last Saturday. So I was super busy but also very happy. We had one of our best Christmas’ celebrations ever! No one was sick, and everyone (even my 2 year old grandson, who is like a whirling dervish lol) was on their best behavior and there were no squabbles lol. I have had no time to be on the computer until today as the last of the visiting family members went home last night.

Today’s song is Oh Come Oh Come Emmanuel. I remember singing this in the church choir as a child. It’s a beautiful song.

Before I forget, today’s song is “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” (like the nice, simple piano)

I absolutely love your ‘brown paper packages tied up with string’ idea. I was just telling my husband last week that I wanted to do that starting next year (more economical, can be used for Christmas OR birthday & I don’t have to have a ton of rolls of paper collecting dust – I might get some fun birthday and Christmas stamps and colorful inks to stamp the paper with). Great minds think alike! =)

O COME O COME EMMANUEL is today’s song! Used to sing it in church choir in grade school! and it is raining here in my part of Texas 100% chance tomorrow so will batten down the hatches and stay in and finish decorating! Missed yesterday’s kept too busy with Grandkids but sure do love these great gifts you are giving us.

The song is Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel. It’s suppose to be near 70 degrees tomorrow, then downpours on Sunday!

We had about 3inches of snow today with a bit of ice under it. I couldn’t drive up our hill to get home this morning and had to park the car near a driveway and walk about 1/4 mile home. It’s raining now so there probably won’t be any snow in the morning.
Today’s song is “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. Thank you for today’s gift. 🙂

The song is “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”. Thanks for the beautiful cluster. We have way too much snow and more is on its way. As cold as it is and dealing with the mess my little doggies bring back in through the doggie door I must admit that it is beautiful to look at.

The name of the song is ‘O Come, O Come Emanuel’ (my favourite carol). Snow is here to stay until around April of next year. So far it’s about 4 feet altogether (the banks are much higher than that).

O Come,, O Come Emanuel (Veni Veni Emanual) . We got the 60 degrees today, by Sunday 70 with a tornaod watch and then cold. We’ve already done the 8″ snow thing twice. I’m ready for spring but Merry Christmas all!

From the comments – the song is Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel. I wasn’t sure on that one. Thanks again for all the goodies.

  • JulesW December 21, 2013, 12:17 am

The song is Oh Come, oh come Emmanuel — a lovely tune and a must have for my music list this time of year.

Today’s song is “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” a traditional hymn for Advent.

I live in Southwest Florida, but moved here from Maryland (and lived in New York before that) 25 yearsago. Even after that long a time here in the very warm, deep Southland, I still find it difficult to get into the holiday spirit without cold weather. Down here the lights go on people’s boats as well as their homes, and the decorating begins promptly on the day after Thanksgiving.
Someday, I would love to spend Christmas in Vermont…at the inns one can still enjoy a ride in a horse-drawn sleigh…ah…what a lovely dream. 🙂

The song is O Come O Come Immanuel … one of my favorites. God bless and MERRY CHRISTMAS

I’m from southern Indiana also we went from a foot of snow to lot of rain the the forecast this week-end…I couldn’t figure out the Christmas song for today but thanks for the beautiful cluster..

  • DebB December 20, 2013, 6:31 pm

After a near-record 70 degree day, we got a major snowstorm… We have had more snow sticking before Christmas here than in the last 20 years! Usually we get ours in January and February – how odd to see 7 inches (on top of an inch of ice) on the ground. Then get another 3 inches two days later… Now it is time for rain – they are forecasting 6 inches of that over the next three days. Gotta love Southern Indiana – if you don’t like the weather, wait a bit – it will change!
