A Bow here, a Bow there….

[cincopa AEAAKULNpDCK]

Hey there folks, How goes it today? Yesterday was a full on cleaning day for Jay and I in preparation of our Christmas Eve fun and frolics. More on that in another post but for now, I’m totally shattered and in need of a holiday lol.

I must admit, RoboVac, as we call him, is brilliant. I love watching him trundle back to his docking station and plugging himself in for a quick re-charge before gathering his strength to go again. Well, it’s a big floor…..

Once again I have some festive tips and tricks for you and a little reminder of new products and almost expired sales so watch out for that info. I’d hate for you to miss out on those awesome deals. I’m so glad you enjoyed my Solstice post yesterday. Hope you find todays post as interesting or at least, fun 🙂

All being well, we should be visiting Manchester Cathedral later today for our annual Nine Carols Service. It’s really beautiful and especially more so in the lovely old Cathedral However, Elly is poorly with flu like symptoms so we may have to cancel. It’s more important for her to get better I think.

Out here in Seattle, we got 8 hours, 25 minutes and 24 seconds of daylight today. Of course it was so heavily overcast you really couldn’t tell (If you’ve ever seen the American version of “The Killing”, it really is that dark here in the winter, but they exaggerated the rain).

Tomorrow we’ll have 3 more seconds of daylight. Wheeeee!

Making Christmas Tree Bows

and they work great for Christmas Gift Bows too 🙂
Have you ever noticed that all the Christmas trees and garlands you see in shopping centres are nearly always just covered with a mass of bows and baubles?  It’s a great way to ‘fill’ the space.  Over the years I have built up a good collection of decorations and ornaments but we have a big tree so there is still space to fill.  Time to make some bows.
To make the bows I used some wired ribbon in pale green and gold, some beading wire and some square diamante buckles.
I cut 2 pieces of ribbon and thread them through the buckle.
I thread a small piece of beading wire through the back of the buckle. To make the bow I formed a loop on each side, so they crossed over at the back.
Twist the beading wire tightly round the ribbon to hold the bow in place, then twist the ends of the wire around the branch to hold the bow on the tree.  Use the wire in the ribbon to shape the bow.
I made about 15 bows for my tree, and they just help to fill the tree.
I think these bows are so pretty and could be used to adorn your Christmas Gifts too.

Stay safe, have fun and don’t forget to grab those kits before the discount runs out.
We’ll see you back here tomorrow for more fun and games

I have enjoyed visiting your blog and learning lots of new things, Thanks so much for your posts and DLs. Merry Christmas. Living in N Ca., it was fun to be at a party last night where we were hanging out outside! No “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” for us! Though that would be nice.

Winter Wonderland or Walking in a Winter Wonderland depends what you see or who you ask! The bow tutorial is so awesome thanks for sharing! No snow here in Texas but we had plenty of rain this week-end and won’t complain as long as we keep out of the horrible drought we were in!

    Winter Wonderland.

We’ve got a icy wonderland right now. 1 inch of ice yesterday. It’s gorgeous, but the poor trees and electric lines!

Thank you for another wonderful download. Today’s song is Walking in a Winter Wonderland…very festive. I bet the Nine Carols Service is wonderful, but it is more important that Elly get well. She should be well and happy for Christmas.

The tune is “Walking in a Winter Wonderland”. Sounds wonderful at this time of year, but I’m sure there are a lot of people who are not so enchanted with all the snow and ice they are being blessed with so far this winter. Let’s just all pray that all have access to a warm place and loved ones to share the season with. We forget with all the shopping and parties and caroling and all that there are a lot of lonely and unfortunate people out there. I count my blessings with each each package I wrap and each donation I drop in the buckets. Well, enough of this, let’s get back to a nice glass of wine and more Christmas music!

Walking in a Winter Wonderland (except here we are sloshing through the mud after 5 inches of rain over the last two days)… I, too, would like to see the tutorial and thanks for the bow-making tips and the freebie!

  • Regina December 22, 2013, 9:15 pm

Thank you for today’s gift 🙂 The music is “Walking in a Winter Wonderland”. Your tree is very pretty. 🙂

Hi Boo! I would absolutely LOVE to see that tutorial on blended photos that spill outside of the frame – always looking to learn something new! (and I don’t know how to do that) I use PSP… What program do you use? (I find most use Photoshop)

A few years ago all our Christmas decorations were in storage (due to relocation)and we used bows on our tree just like you did (only ours were burgundy velvet bows). That’s the year I started making ornaments to fill out my pretty, but bare tree – making gingerbread cookie ornaments (hearts, heart-in-hand and gingerbread men), paper & crochet snowflakes & popcorn-cranberry garland (which is a family tradition on my mom’s side), and paper chain garland. It looked nice, with the white mini lights and all, though I have to say I missed my ornaments…

Today’s song is….Walking In A Winter Wonderland (love this rendition – please share what album it’s from!)

The bow making tips are awesome — thank you, Boo!! I sure hope Elly feels better soon! Wish her well. The cathedral is lovely.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland is the song for today.
